Taking a Road Trip Through the Czech Republic

If you're looking for a European road trip destination with plenty of history, gorgeous scenery, great attractions, and delicious food, then the Czech Republic is the place to go! With its vibrant cities, rolling hills, and medieval towns, the Czech Republic offers an array of experiences that will keep you entertained on your journey.

Begin your road trip in Prague, the largest city and capital of the Czech Republic. Here you can explore the city’s Old Town, featuring Baroque and Gothic architecture, art galleries, and plenty of cafes, restaurants, and pubs to explore. Don’t forget to check out Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world, or take a walk along the Vltava River.

Head south on Highway 1 towards Ceske Budejovice, a lovely medieval town home to the famous Budweiser brewery. Here you can explore the old town square, and grab a beer and some delicious local food in the local pubs.

Next, take a detour to the charming region of South Bohemia, known for its sweeping mountain views and unique medieval towns. Stop by Český Krumlov to explore the famous castle and quaint cobbled streets, then move on to Telč to take in the colorful Baroque architecture and gardens. Don’t forget to stop by Plzeň on your way to or from South Bohemia for its famous beer and the Great Synagogue, the second largest in the world.

Continue your journey with a trip to Moravia, home to stunning landscapes, fresh vineyards, and numerous hauntingly beautiful castles. Take in the majestic Trosky Castle or the sprawling Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’re feeling adventurous, take to the air on a hot air balloon ride in Mikulov.

Finish your trip with a stop in Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. Take some time to explore the city’s underground labyrinth of caves or wander around the beautiful Old Town district, full of bustling cafes, galleries, and shops.

The Czech Republic offers a wealth of beautiful and exciting sites to explore on a road trip. You’ll leave with a better understanding of Czech culture and some incredible memories to take home with you.
